Just as the pilgrims at Monte do Carmo found in the past, simple but nourishing meals made from what the earth would provide and the seasons allow, so The Rural Hotel offers a genuine taste of regional dishes inspired by the family’s old recipe books. Alentejo is renowned for the simplicity of its food based on bread, fresh herbs and vegetables, olive oil and the occasional lamb, pork or fish. Each day we present a different set menu not forgetting to offer an alternative for vegetarians and children.

A restaurant and a small bar allow the guests looking for a pure retreat to stay in hotel boundaries, having all meals in house.
